Old City Philadelphia Boutique Hotel Location
- What was the inspiration behind Lokal?
The inspiration for the Lokal concept came from how we like to travel. We want to stay in design-driven boutique hotels in the heart of residential neighborhoods and feel like we are staying like a local, rather than a tourist.
- Why Invisible Service?
The concept of “Invisible Service” came not only from a necessity to make a tiny hotel function, but to enable guests to visit with just the right amount of interaction from us. Everything you will need is loaded into your rooms just like at home and we are a call or text away if you need additional service.
- Is there a front desk? How do I check-in?
Nope! We operate on “Invisible Service” and don’t have a front desk or conventional on-site concierge. Prior to your arrival, you will be provided with unique codes which will grant you access to the front door and your individual suite.
- What time is check-in/check-out?
- Where can I park?
Right around the corner at Old City Parking – 304 Race Street. $25/day (payment handled at the garage). Click here to view a map.
- Is the Lokal Hotel handicap or wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, no. Due to its registered historic status, Lokal is a 4-story walk-up only building. It has a narrow staircase, but we promise the rooms will make up for it. If you would like someone from the Lokal team to help you walk your bags up/down the stairs, give us a shout: [email protected].
- Can I smoke at Lokal?
No! We kindly ask you to respect our no smoking policy and refrain from smoking inside the building. Violators will be subject to a $1000 smoking fee.
- Does the Lokal Hotel have kitchens?
Yes! Every suite comes equipped with a full kitchen: Induction cooktop, combo oven/microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, pots + pans and dishes.
- Is Lokal pet-friendly?
No. Pets are not allowed at the Lokal Hotel. Violators will be subject to a $1000 fee. Please leave your furry friends at home!
- Can I do my laundry at Lokal?
Yes! Each of our suites comes fully equipped with a Bosch washer and dryer. Tide Pods are placed in the closet for your convenience and use.
- What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made within 7 days of check-in will be fully charged.
- What’s the deal with WiFi?
High speed internet is provided free of charge in all of our suites. Browse the web on your personal device or via the in-room iPad!
- I’m a photographer – what are my options?
Interested in shooting at Lokal? Commercial and professional photographers can rent out any of our suites for their photography needs for an additional fee. Please contact us directly to inquire as this fee scales with size of shoot. We like to keep it as affordable as possible for smaller, local photographers… If commercial photography is not coordinated and approved by Lokal Hotel, we reserve the right to assess a $1,000 fine to the room.
- Why choose Old City for Lokal’s first location?
The Historic District of Old City is the perfect spot for our first location. It’s in the heart of the boutique shopping, gallery and cafe section of Old City where no other hotel can fit. You are literally living where the locals live during your stay with us.
- Interested in partnering with the Lokal Hotel?
We’re fortunate to have worked with a lot of incredibly talented people and we’re always looking to work with more. If you have any interest in partnering with the Lokal Hotel, please send us a detailed message to [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!
- Interested in working for the Lokal Hotel?
Send over your resume and any other relevant information to [email protected]. If we think you’ll be a good fit, we’ll be in touch.
- Why are their bicycle helmets in the lobby?
Those are their for your use while you are a guest at Lokal! We recommended grabbing one and heading to the nearest Indego station to rent a bicycle ($4 for 30 minutes).
A-Frame Cabin - South Jersey
- Are pets allowed?
Yes. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs with an extra $100 non-refundable cleaning fee.
- Is there WiFi?
Yes. There is also Apple TV, cable TV with HBO and Sonos Music service.
- What does the “Cleaning, Linen and Amenities Service” fee include?
Many vacation rentals charge separately for services and some don’t provide any at all. We wanted to include a bunch of things in one, reasonable fee to keep things simple. We are working on the honor system a bit here not to overindulge or take things home with you. Below is what is included in this fee:
- Full cleaning after your stay
- All sheets, towels, pillows, blankets, robes and cleaning of all linens after your stay
- Firewood & fire starting sticks- Please enjoy responsibly
- Lump Charcoal for the Big Green Egg grill – the good stuff!
- Coffee! – 3 types from Rival Bros Coffee
- Loose Tea – 3 flavors from Steap & Grind
- Bitters at the bar for cocktails
- Basic kitchen essentials – oils, S&P, spices, sugar….
- Are there games?
Yes. We have an assortment of games for kids and adults. We also have a bunch of playing cards and poker chips.
- How far is it from Philly?
It is about a 50 minute drive depending on traffic down Route 55. It is about 20-30 minutes from most popular South Jersey shore towns.
- Are Events allowed?
This is a very secluded and quiet section of a very small town. Please contact us for any event requests or professional photo and video sessions. Events or photography shoots that are not approved are subject to early dismissal from the rental and a fine of $1,000.
- How long does the wood-fired hot tub take to heat?
Depending on the time of year, the hot tub can take anywhere from a few hours to as many as 5-6 hours to get up to temperature. It’s part of the process… For this reason it will likely not be operating during the coldest months of the year.
- Is there local takeout food?
There are not many options for good takeout food here. There is a popular, classic diner down the street. Everything else is a 15+ minute drive to Millville or Vineland. For that reason, we recommend meal planning prior to your visit.
- What kind of cooking supplies are in the cabin?
The three main ways to cook at the cabin are a 36″ 6-burner gas range, a Big Green Egg charcoal grill and the fire pit out back. There is also a microwave and toaster oven. Most basic cooking and baking gear is provided and there is more cast iron than a normal kitchen for cooking over the fire as well as the range. The Big Green Egg includes a manual/cookbook and can be used for indirect, slow-cooking as well as very high heat searing of steaks. Taking your time and enjoying cooking in unique ways is part of the charm of this place…
